Bespoke furniture · Hudson Valley

One shop, from the sketch to the piece.

TCS Woodworking is a custom woodwork shop in the Hudson Valley. We build bespoke furniture alongside the custom cabinetry and fine millwork the shop is known for — for homes across the Northeast; recently, the Hudson Valley and Nantucket. We draw, build and finish every piece in our own shop; delivery and installation are arranged around your project.

One team carries a commission from the first drawing to the finished piece, on one documented process. Every piece is drawn in-house and built in our own shop. Recent commissions include a ten-seat solid-cherry dining table with its matching chairs, white-oak nightstands and side tables, dressers, and beds.

You approve the drawings before a single board is cut. Everything we build comes off them.

What we build

Furniture, and rooms built like furniture.

One-off pieces and small runs are drawn and built beside the kitchens and built-ins the shop is known for — same benches, same stock, same finishing booth. Commission a single piece, or a whole room built to the same standard.

01

Bespoke furniture

One-off pieces and small runs, built to the drawing — dining tables and chairs, nightstands, dressers, beds, desks, media consoles — plus wood countertops.

02

Vanities

Wall-hung or floor-set, single or double basin, fitted exactly to your room.

03

Built-ins and feature walls

Media walls, bar walls and fitted millwork that treat a whole wall as one designed piece.

04

Kitchens

Fully custom, inset or overlay, with matching appliance panels and waterfall-stone coordination.

05

Closets and storage

Fitted closets, pantries, utility storage and floating shelves, all to the same standard.

06

Interior and pocket doors

Interior and pocket doors made to match the rest of your millwork.

07

Moldings and millwork

Trim, casings and architectural millwork — stock, or drawn for you.

Range

White oak, black walnut, cherry, maple, poplar, Medex. Paint-grade to natural finishes; exotic species on request.

Build method

Furniture arrives complete — assembled, finished and inspected in the shop. Cabinetry arrives assembled as well, or flat-packed on request — each cabinet with its own build sheet and photo, on four-way pallets — with shipping arranged around your site.

Grade and joinery

Solid hardwood where the piece calls for it; veneer-core plywood — top of the line, never particle board — for casework. Dovetail drawer boxes, soft-close hardware throughout, inset or overlay fronts.

Who builds, who installs

We draw, build and finish everything in-house. Delivery is arranged around your project; installation is available through our contractors, or your builder's crew sets it from labeled parts.

How we work

Five stages. One contact. Nothing cut until you sign.

Every commission runs the same documented path — a dining set and a whole-house package move through the same five stages, so you always know where your piece stands and what protects you at each step.

01

Discovery

What you get

A priced proposal within five business days of receiving your drawings.

Before you commit

The scope is priced before you commit to anything. Work begins with a design deposit — 10% of the job, capped at $1,500 ($5,000 on jobs over $100,000) — every dollar applied to your total.

02

Design

What you get

Whatever you start with — an architect's set, a designer's sketch, a photograph — checked, verified, and drawn into full elevations, sections and shop drawings for your review, issued with the 30% invoice.

Where change stops

You review and mark up the drawings twice, then the design locks. A change caught here costs a revision; on site it costs a cabinet.

03

Sourcing

What you get

Word that your material is in the shop, and the date your build begins.

No late surprises

Anything with a long wait is identified and ordered against a locked drawing, not a moving target — so you hear "four weeks" or "we start tomorrow" while it still matters.

04

Production

What we do

Your approved drawings become cut files and the build begins: a build sheet and photo for every piece, then assembly, finishing and inspection.

Nothing sorted on site

Every part is cut to exact size and labeled Project → Room → Wall → Run, matched to the drawings, so nothing is puzzled out in your home.

05

Delivery

What you get

Photographs of your finished piece before anything leaves the shop, your sign-off against them, then delivery. The 85% invoice follows that sign-off.

A clean set

Everything moves at once, staged in the order it goes in. Delivery is coordinated within roughly 150 miles; installation is available through our contractors, or your builder's crew sets it from labeled parts.

Single point of contact

One point of contact from the first drawing to the finished piece, so nothing is lost between the drawing and the bench.

The basics

The unglamorous parts, covered.

Insurance

Fully insured. Certificate of insurance available on request.

Payment

A design deposit, then 30% when your shop drawings are issued, 85% when the work is complete and you have seen photographs of it, and the balance on delivery. Projects over $100,000 are put on a schedule worked out with you.

Warranty

Work warranted free from defects in workmanship for one year from delivery, per our services agreement. Excludes normal wear, misuse, and improper installation or modification by others.

Pickup and delivery

Shop pickup is standard — most builders collect for their clients. We coordinate delivery within roughly 150 miles; beyond that, by arrangement.

Change orders

A signed change document, a revised drawing, an agreed fee, and the timeline stated up front. You review drawings twice; changes after the design locks carry a fee.

Why clients come back

The piece that arrives is the piece on the drawing you approved. Set once, on schedule, with one point of contact from the first line to the final fit.

Most of our work is repeat work — the same builders, season after season.

Next step

Bring us the piece you have in mind.

If you have drawings, send them: five business days after they reach us, you will have a priced proposal — scope, timeline, inclusions and exclusions. If all you have is a photograph, a sketch, or an idea, start the conversation — drawing it is our job. Either way: one shop, from the drawing to delivery.
